On-Time Delivery Rate Calculator
Find what percentage of deliveries arrived on time.
How on-time delivery rate works
On-time delivery rate is the percentage of deliveries, shipments or fulfillments that arrived within the promised or scheduled window — a core logistics and operations reliability metric.
Enter the number of on-time deliveries and the total number of deliveries for the period. The calculator returns the on-time percentage.
Track this alongside delivery volume and average delay for late shipments — a high on-time rate with a few catastrophically late outliers can still create major customer problems.
The formula
On-time rate = On-time deliveries ÷ Total deliveries × 100
Divide the count of on-time deliveries by the total number of deliveries, then multiply by 100.
Worked example
940 on-time deliveries out of 1,000 total
940 ÷ 1,000 × 100 = 94% on-time delivery rate.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as "on time"?
Whatever your organization's promised delivery window is — apply the same definition consistently across periods so trends are comparable.
What's a good on-time delivery rate?
It varies by industry — some logistics operations target 95%+, others tolerate more variability. Compare against your own historical trend and your service commitments, not a universal number.
Does this replace tracking average delay?
No — on-time rate tells you how often you hit the window, not by how much you miss it when you don't. Track both for a complete picture.
