How the quality scorecard works

A quality scorecard combines several quality dimensions — each scored independently and weighted by importance — into a single overall score, the standard approach for multi-factor quality audits and vendor scorecards.

Add each quality dimension with its score (commonly 0–100) and its weight. The calculator computes the overall weighted score.

Weights don't need to sum to 100 — the calculator normalizes automatically by dividing by the total weight, so you can use whatever relative weighting scheme fits your quality program.

The formula

Overall score = Σ(dimension score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)

Multiply each dimension's score by its weight, sum those products, then divide by the sum of the weights — the same weighted-average calculation used across scorecards and blended-grade systems.

Worked example

Accuracy 95 (weight 3), Timeliness 80 (weight 2), Documentation 70 (weight 1)

(95×3 + 80×2 + 70×1) ÷ (3+2+1) = (285+160+70) ÷ 6 ≈ 85.8 overall score.

How should I choose weights?

Weight each dimension by how much it matters to overall quality outcomes for your context — a common approach is to have stakeholders agree on relative importance before scoring begins, not after seeing the results.

Can a dimension score be on a different scale than 0-100?

Yes — the calculator works with whatever numeric scale you use, as long as you apply the same scale consistently across dimensions being combined.
