Time Zone Converter
Convert a date and time between time zones, with automatic DST handling.
How the time zone converter works
This tool converts a date and time in one time zone to the equivalent date and time in another, using each location's actual current UTC offset — including daylight saving time, where it applies.
Choose a date and time, pick the source time zone (where that time applies) and the target time zone, and the equivalent local time is calculated instantly.
Unlike a fixed offset table, this calculator reads each time zone's real rules for the exact date entered, so a conversion during daylight saving time is correctly different from the same conversion in winter.
The formula
Target time = Source wall-clock time − Source UTC offset + Target UTC offset
The entered wall-clock time is resolved to a precise UTC instant using the source zone's offset at that date, then that same instant is displayed using the target zone's offset at that date.
Worked example
12:00 noon in New York, converted to UTC
In January (Eastern Standard Time, UTC−5), noon in New York is 17:00 UTC. In July (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC−4), the same noon is 16:00 UTC — the hour offset changes with daylight saving time.
Frequently asked questions
Does this handle daylight saving time correctly?
Yes. The offset is resolved for the specific date you enter, not a fixed year-round number, so conversions are correct on both sides of a daylight-saving transition.
Why does the same city show different offsets at different times of year?
Many time zones observe daylight saving time, shifting their UTC offset by an hour for part of the year. The calculator always uses the real offset in effect on the date you selected.
What time zones are supported?
A curated list of major cities and regions covering the world's populated time zones. If you need a specific IANA time zone not listed, the closest major city in the same zone gives an identical result.
